The VelocityOne Flight Universal Control System is totally Badass

Imagine a completely immersive way to feel like you pile a plane without even having to leave the comfort of your home. Okay, maybe it has been existed for some time, but Turtle Beach has just set his name on the ring with his new Velocity Flight universal control system. And it's really great that they did it.

Turtle Beach has carefully designed a complete control system that is equipped with everything you need to fly in the air around the world. It's complex, colorful, absolutely hard to cook and changing the game. If you are an Xbox player or PC that takes the flight simulation seriously, the Velocity Flight universal control system is certainly the accessory you need. Hell, if you are someone who is interested in the flight simulation, the Velocity is worth more than your time.

When you open the box, get ready for a large control system consisting of 2 separate and robust plastic parts. The main room, with the steering commands at Doug, sets itself on your desk (or can be attached with adhesive suction) and the other room smaller, with the throttle, snaps into the first room. You will get some pieces of paper to facilitate installation, two color-coded cords, different interchangeable accelerator parts and some frontal plates for the flight indicators.

From the start, you can say that the Velocity Flight universal control system is of high quality. It is made of a thick and durable plastic. Not a single piece of the entire control system looks or does not seem cheap. The top customizable accelerator parts are very well in place and do not come off easily. It's definitely not a problem during the game. Even the front plates do not move much unless you shoot on it. It's just another way Turtle Beach shows how well the Velocity is designed.

The installation is very simple: Use an Allen key of the upper compartment to tighten and secure the Velocity Flight universal control system, connect the color cords to the appropriate location and the Xbox / PC and open Flight Simulator. It's so easy. Well, most of the time. I met a problem where I could not download Flight Simulator at first. Just make sure your PC has the latest updates, and you can avoid this frustration.

Turtle Beach said they collaborated with world-class aeronautical engineers and pilots and this is seen. The level of detail they have provided with regard to the design of the Velocity Flight Universal Control System does not look like anything I've ever seen. The complete suite comes with a dedicated trim wheel, a 180 degree yoke with integrated rudder orders and a modular accelerator quadrant. Overall, it comes with 40 different buttons! And on the 40, there are 10 fully programmable buttons, so you can customize your entire experience. There is ambient lighting that can be updated in your main parameter screen on the Velocity. In addition to this, there are 12 flight indicators that will illuminate while you are in the air, including the low fuel level, the autopilot, the landing gear, etc.

You can also change your outdoor view at the cockpit, each with its own advantages. External is the best option when you try to learn the angle, pitch and speed of the plane. You will see all aspects of the movement of the aircraft from the outside. Cockpit, on the other hand, is what will offer you the best immersive experience. That's what you'll feel that you're flying the plane. Or crush it, if you are like me. You may not want to make a bunch of barrels all the time. They are fun, but dangerous here.

This makes this experience even more captivating, it is the audio system. There is an option to connect a headset to the Velocity side and I would definitely recommend doing it. I tried several helmets and if you have a Turtle Beach helmet with 3D immersive sound or superhuman auditory adjustment, use it here. Of all the helmets I own, I found that the best was Syn Air because of its 3D and superhuman sound options. There is nothing more frightening than to see the plane start screaming stall, stall, stall, the sound that surrounds you completely, just before you crash.

Do you already start to see a model? One thing is certain, if you start in the world of flight simulation, you will trick you... a lot. Even if you go through the practice offered by Microsoft Flight Simulator. Or maybe I'm not so good. Anyway, unless you are a pro, try to control the Velocity is really difficult. What, if we are totally honest, is normal since we do not only use a mouse and a keyboard or controller.

Now, despite the difficulty and even if you plant yourself a lot, it's not going to be too frustrating. I did not find it anyway. You can always enjoy the incredible views of the world, and you will only have to restart and try again. Just be very careful when you are on the ground if you have reached this point. Because it is annoying to see a perfect flight until then finished in smoke.

This does not mean that the Velocity is not smooth as hell because it is. The yoke allows a complete and precise movement, but not entirely from 1 to 1. There is a slight noticeable delay between the movement carried out with the Velocity as a whole (not only the yoke) and the way it translates to the screen. This is an easy fit and nothing that will break your immersion. The trim wheel offers the perfect amount of tension, but gas controls are a little too soft. I would have liked to see a little more tension with the accelerator because they will eventually loosen over time. It's a little thing, but to note.

If you are looking for the disadvantages of Velocity, you may be shocked to learn that there is now at all. Only two. And the first is minor. I would have liked that the wires are globally less visible, even a wireless Bluetooth option would have been cool. The second is that the Velocity costs $379.95, so it is a quite expensive accessory for anyone who does not have a great interest in the flight simulation or for casual players.

VELOCITYONE FLIGHT | THE FULL REVIEW | XBOX and PC Yoke & Throttle Quadrant That said, the Velocity is a mad pleasure and really benefits from its realism and immersion all around. It really makes me want to play regularly at Microsoft Flight Simulator and I did not know that it would be possible. This is not my usual choice of game. I do not have a VR but the Velocity definitely offers an experience that gets closer. It really helps to imagine what might be a pilot in the safest environment possible. If you play regularly at Microsoft Flight Simulator (or other flight simulations) the price of Velocity will not bother you too much. Save a little, it is well worth the entrance price. In fact, it's a complete play changer.
